Today, the centenary Woman's Day and Mardi Gras. Greetings!

Today March 8 marks the centenary of International Women's Day : The European Parliament also decided to celebrate the anniversary, with a seminar in Strasbourg, which speak of women's leadership. However, not everyone agrees on the decision to officially start the festivities since 1911. Several people have already celebrated the centenary in 2008, because they are part Women's Day from the date of the fire in a textile factory in New York, many women were killed in
stake, because the leaders had sealed the doors to prevent workers leaving during working hours.

But the sources are very divided: some say the fire did not happen in 1908 but in 1911. In reality, a Women's Day was already celebrated before that date in the United States and some experience of this kind had been made in Europe.

was in 1910, Clara Zetkin, belonging to the German Socialist Party, welcomed the proposal of an American delegation to remember the women killed in New York. It does so by deciding to create an international day dedicated to the women's vote. But politics is slow, you know and have to wait until 1911 for the first official "Day of the Woman" (also remember this year of gardenia AISM).
